Serge (or Sew) This! Knit/Woven Joggers
Need a pattern to try new serger skills AND stay hip, hop and happenin’? The Hudson Pant from True Bias for knits and the Vanessa from Jalie for wovens are our go-to patterns and we’d love to help you make them-with or without a serger-we don’t discriminate 🙂
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner-you should know how to use machine and have some pattern knowledge
Instructor: Material Girls, Debbie & Kristin
Dates: Wednesdays, May 4, 18, 25, 1:30-3:30 pm
Pattern, fabric and notions as suggested on pattern
First class will be cutting out so leave your machine in the car 🙂 in case we don’t get to serging/sewing
Serge (or Sew) This! Woven Tee/Blouse
Expand your skills and your wardrobe with a woven tee or blouse. Expand your skills to bias neck binding, French seams, and band application, plus learn hands-on how to order and work with a large format printing of a PDF pattern.
Dates: Wednesdays, May 18, 25, June 1, 10:30-12:30
Recommended patterns: Harmony Blouse or Melody Dolman/Love Notions, Remy Top/Sew House Seven, Coram Top/Hey June
Contact instructors so patterns are available for you to use first class
First class will most likely be prep and cutting out so leave your machine in your car 🙂
Basic & Beyond Sergery-Just the Facts!
You will get all you need to learn to thread and use your serger (after all, we use just one stitch most of the time), just not as much hands-on practice as our 3 session class. No experience with sergers necessary (you don’t even need to take it out of the box before class) but be sure you have parts and manual 🙂
Dates: Saturday, May 14, 12:30-3:30
Basic & Beyond Sergery-2 sessions
Do you have a serger you don’t know how to use? Are you a little confused about threading? Take the fear out of serging and get comfortable with what could become your favorite sewing tool. Sessions cover machine and stitch knowledge, threading, rolled hem, flatlock, techniques, serging a basic tee and more.
A child sized, cut out tee will be provided to practice your new skills. Construction techniques will be emphasized.
Dates: June 1 and 8, 1:30-4:00 pm
