Garment Sewing Group

Garment Sewing Group is a monthly no-sew meeting featuring garments, pattern modification and review, and the latest news in the sewing world. You will be provided with tips, techniques and new ideas that are sure to inspire you. Current fashion, chic wear, proper fit, and children’s wear are some of the topics we will explore. Whether you are an experienced sewist (and you’ve been quilting while waiting for something like this:) or just beginning – this group is for you! Bring Show and Tell for a chance to win a door prize.

We have 3 meetings per month in 3 different locations-please check “Garment Sewing Group” in the main menu for other dates and locations-many people attend multiple meetings (just pay once 🙂

Make Friends with your Serger—Sergers can be a little intimidating. Do you have a serger, but don’t really know how to use it? Are you a little confused about threading? Do you have no idea where to start?Take the fear out of serging and get comfortable with what could become a valuable tool in your sewing arsenal. Kristin and Debbie will be there to help with serger knowledge, set-up, threading and basic serging. When you’re ready, you can progress to construction techniques, rolled hems, flatlock seams and 3 thread serging.

Supply list: Serger, manual, scissors, pins, seam ripper, 4 different colors of serger thread (for first session), then your choice of threads thereafter.

Cost: $45 per class Wednesdays, May 3, June 7, 10-12 pm

Open Studio with “Material Girls” (Sew and Fit)—Bring your own machine and project. Debbie and Kristin will be there to help you with all things garment sewing, including serging techniques, garment construction, and even fitting. They can help you get started or get unstuck. You must be able to work your sewing machine and know how to read a basic pattern.

Cost: $40 per class Wednesdays, May 3, June 7, 1-4 pm
