Garment Sewing Group (formerly Fashion Sewing Club)

Covid is on the back burner and we’re mostly out in public. As such, we were in person at Treadle for June and had one Zoom meeting. We are trying to find a good balance so are changing things up a bit. Please watch the website for changes or just email us if what you see doesn’t make sense 🙂

Most importantly: Our Tuesday meetings will now be on the second Wednesday of each month

For the month of July our meetings will be:

Thursday, July 8 at 10:30 at First Sewing, 7985 Southtown Center, Bloomington

Saturday, July 10, 10:30 at Treadle Yard Goods, 1338 Grand Ave., St. Paul

Wednesday, July 14, 10:30 at Lakes Makerie, 5257 Chicago Av. S., Mpls.

This is NOT a permanent location change, just an exploration of local resources 🙂

Garment Sewing Group is a monthly meeting featuring garments, pattern modification and review, and the latest news in the sewing world. You will be provided with tips, techniques and new ideas that are sure to inspire you. Current fashion, chic wear, proper fit, and children’s wear are some of the topics we will explore. Whether you are an experienced sewist (and you’ve been quilting while waiting for something like this:) or just beginning – this club is for you! Bring Show and Tell for a chance to win a door prize.
You may attend any scheduled Group meeting during the month in which you have paid. Group meetings will only be cancelled in extreme cases (bad weather, no electricity…).

Fee for Garment Sewing Group is $10. Your first meeting is free-just email Kristin to get the Zoom code and pdf.
Please register/pay using the buttons below. You may attend one or all meetings in a month and only pay for one.

  1. Hello,

Sorry I don’t see a contact us. I plan on taking the Serger class at Treadle in September. I do not currently own a serger, but have figured out that I need one for the type of fabrics that I would like to sew.
Are there certain brands and models that you recommend?
Do you recommend a machine with the cover chain stitch or one where you need to buy that separately?
A pricier machine it fine, as long as the quality lives up the tag 🙂

    Thanks!
    Jennifer

  2. I have a 10 yr old daughter who loves to see loves fashion I would like to get her into a class where they can help her strengthen her talent. She has taken 1 class and does own a sewing machine but I have no clue how to teach her to use or how to sew

    1. Taylor,
We’d be very happy to have your daughter join one of our classes for school age sewists.
We have an ongoing class on Thursdays from 4:30-6 at JoAnn Fabrics in Edina or one of our four session classes at Treadle Yard Goods in St. Paul.
Please email me at materialgirlsewing@gmail.com and we can get specifics taken ccare of.
      Thanks for your interest!
