Happy stitching!
Here’s some of what we saw from you at Fashion Sewing Club in January. Thanks for making it what it is-inspirational! Club sheets and photos can be found in top menu bar.
Also, a few things to do around town-
Textile Center’s A Common Thread exhibit through February 25.
Dressing Downton exhibit at MOA through January 31.
It’s hard not to love Cynthia Guffey’s beautifully constructed garments in cottons and silks. She was at the Expo again this past year and even though I have purged past patterns of hers from my stash I still ended up taking several new ones home with me.

Several Material Girls modeled her garments on the runway and also fell under the spell. So this year we decided to give her patterns a fighting chance. We are hoping that some group effort may unlock the mysteries of her limited sized, scantily illustrated, but technically challenging patterns.
To that end, we will be bringing our Guffey patterns to Workroom Social classes at Treadle (2/21 and 28 for starters) and Sew Social classes at JoAnn Yorktown (most Thursdays from 1-4).

Debbie has her muslin partially constructed for the jacket pattern with deep pleats at the shoulders. I have cut out the paper pattern and chosen fabric for the blouse with split button placket. I was happy to see that the new Threads issue has an article on a related button placket.

If you have experience with Cynthia’s patterns or would like to delve into her patterns with us, please email or register through Treadle (651-698-9690) or our website.
I’ll be posting our progress!
First, here’s the new grand baby girl!! There will be one more by the time next Club rolls around 🙂

And then a taste of the talent and hard work that you all been doing! We so appreciate you sharing and inspiring us and others each month!

No better time than the present, right? Here are the garment photos from our November Club meetings. Club sheets have been added to the heading of the same name in option bar above.

Even though we’d love to spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s with your kids, we’ll be spending them with ours 🙂
But there are classes offered at Treadle Yard Goods that week if you’d like.
OR if you have Monday or Wednesday of next week off (Minneapolis and Bloomington to name a few school districts) we are offering classes at Joann Yorktown:
Monday, 1-4 pm and Wednesday, 10-1
Students can dream up their own projects or finish something they may have started or we will have a few ideas of our own. Cost is $35 for a three hour class.
You can sign up online at Joann’s. The class is called Kids’ Pillowcase just because it worked for their system. Or email us and you can pay on the day of the class.
Happy Holidays!!
Between MEA, After School Sewing at both Treadle and Joann and Sew Social, many projects made it to the finish line!
You can also find all Fashion Sewing Club Sheets and Garment Photos for 2016 on the website-finally got caught up. Show and Tell highlights will come next week.
Tuesday After School Sewing begins again in November at Treadle and is ongoing at Joann, Yorktown on Thursday afternoons. Workroom Social also begins in November at Treadle and is ongoing at Joann, Yorktown on Thursday afternoons.
We are grateful to First Sewing for having allowed us to teach at their new location across from Schuler Shoes but we missed not having fabric, patterns and notions available while we taught classes. So we approached Joann Fabrics at Yorktown in Edina (across from Target) and they are very excited to have us teaching classes there!
There are a few kinks to work out but we will be offering our usual Sew Studio (now called Sew Social) on Thursday afternoons from 1-4 pm and After School Sewing from 4:30-6 beginning September 8th.
Fashion Sewing Club will also have its Thursday evening meetings at Joann beginning this Thursday, September 8th at 6:30. The classroom is in the back of the store just to the right of Framing. You will still pay Material Girls for Club.
Debbie and I will also teach Joann classes (Beginning Sewing, Lazy Day (pj) Pants, Pullover Knit Top, that are offered nationally. These classes should be registered for through Joann online or in a store.
We hope you aren’t inconvenienced too much. We’ll all have a little more elbow room too!
And, of course, we are still teaching at Treadle Yard Goods. Here’s a link to the new class schedule.
Fashion Sewing Club meets at Treadle on Saturday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 13.
