Just thought I’d share-

We are getting ready for Fashion Sewing Club next Tuesday and then the Sewing Expo next Thursday and Friday.
Hope the “smooth sewing” goblins are with you today if you are sewing.
Between MEA, After School Sewing at both Treadle and Joann and Sew Social, many projects made it to the finish line!
You can also find all Fashion Sewing Club Sheets and Garment Photos for 2016 on the website-finally got caught up. Show and Tell highlights will come next week.
Tuesday After School Sewing begins again in November at Treadle and is ongoing at Joann, Yorktown on Thursday afternoons. Workroom Social also begins in November at Treadle and is ongoing at Joann, Yorktown on Thursday afternoons.
We are grateful to First Sewing for having allowed us to teach at their new location across from Schuler Shoes but we missed not having fabric, patterns and notions available while we taught classes. So we approached Joann Fabrics at Yorktown in Edina (across from Target) and they are very excited to have us teaching classes there!
There are a few kinks to work out but we will be offering our usual Sew Studio (now called Sew Social) on Thursday afternoons from 1-4 pm and After School Sewing from 4:30-6 beginning September 8th.
Fashion Sewing Club will also have its Thursday evening meetings at Joann beginning this Thursday, September 8th at 6:30. The classroom is in the back of the store just to the right of Framing. You will still pay Material Girls for Club.
Debbie and I will also teach Joann classes (Beginning Sewing, Lazy Day (pj) Pants, Pullover Knit Top, that are offered nationally. These classes should be registered for through Joann online or in a store.
We hope you aren’t inconvenienced too much. We’ll all have a little more elbow room too!
And, of course, we are still teaching at Treadle Yard Goods. Here’s a link to the new class schedule.
Fashion Sewing Club meets at Treadle on Saturday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 13.
…with the Material Girls, anyway 🙂
We’ve had a fun summer of sewing with the next generation of sewists. Treadle has been a younger group and Southtown has been predominantly teens and most afternoons we’ve had our maximum of six students!
Here are a few pics to share the creativity and hard work of these students-

Our remaining August classes-click on the class title to go to online sign up-
Teen/Kids’ Weekly Sewing:
Thursdays, August 25, 10:00-12:00
Thursdays, August 11, 18 and 25, 4:00-6:00
Teen/Kids’ Sewing Camp:
Wednesday and Thursday, August 17 and 18, 10:00-2:30 (you may come only one of the days if you want)
If students want to make one of the projects listed, we will need to know so we can bring fabric and pattern otherwise a student may also work on a project of their own choosing. If the student is a new beginner, we will make a pillowcase and then move on as time allows.
Registration will close at 8 pm on Tuesday, August 17th for the two day camp. Weekly classes are open till the day before.
Our summer schedule ends August 25. We are working on fall classes. A weekly after school class will be offered and we are happy to schedule classes on school days off but there are many districts so if you send us a few dates we will work with them to schedule a class. Homeschool classes are also welcome.
Enjoy the last month of summer!

Sometimes that’s just what sewing brings us to, but here are a few bright ideas to get you through the tough times-

FINAL FOUR days of Treadle’s Summer Sale!!! Stop by this weekend and pick up some great fabric at 10-50% off.
Sale goes through Monday, August 8th.

Can’t find the color of thread you are looking for? Order this thread sample folder and always have all the colors at the ready. Then order from Wawak-

Joanne has had great success ordering from them-speed of shipment, great selection, etc.
Beautiful summer weather may have kept some from staying indoors and sewing but we still had great attendance during our July meetings.

Happy summer weekend (of sewing)!
Hope to see you next week at Fashion Sewing Club!

We continue to appreciate all of you that attend Fashion Sewing Club. All three of them have loyal followers and new attendees. It’s so energizing!
I wanted to pass on a link to an organization that Treadle worked with for Grand Old Days-Sew Good Goods. They donate handmade high quality items to people that need them-you can cut, sew, donate, have a party. I’m checking to see if they would be interested in any scraps that any of us might have as they use Treadle fabric.
The photos and Club sheets have been posted under Club Sheets and Garment Photos above. Here is a sampling of what you showed us in June-

(Sew Confident! is a downloadable periodic class from Sewing Workshop.)

May did not disappoint-our first showing on Saturday was an authentic ball costume and she really did go to Versailles AND made a costume for her husband also. We are waiting for details…

We can’t wait to see what everyone has been sewing for June.
Club meetings are:
Thursday, June 9, 6:30 at First Sewing, Bloomington
Saturday, June 11, 10:30 at Treadle Yard Goods
Tuesday, June 14, 10:30 at Treadle Yard Goods
April was a good sewing month for some-lots to see. Fashion Sewing Club photos and sewing notes can be found by clicking here or on Club Sheets/Garment Photos above.
Below is Karen’s ensemble-the tunic is ready-to-wear by Gudrun Sjoden. I’ve watched her clothing for some time. It’s full of color and pattern but not something I’d expect to see on the street here in the metro area. One of the dilemmas on my mind was to reinterpret the look into something I could wear. Karen has solved the problem by choosing just one piece and matching it with a solid pant and sweater. Now which piece will I order???
More inspiration–

We hope you’ve been inspired or helped you remember what you may have seen at Fashion Sewing Club in April. The next Club meetings are:
Thursday, June 9, 6:30 pm at First Sewing Bloomington
Saturday, June 11, 10:30, @ Treadle
Tuesday, June 14, 10:30 @ Treadle
Hope to see you!!
